Data Deletion Request

You have the right to delete your data. Here's exactly what we store and how to remove it — in-app or by contacting us.

What data Renter's Vault stores

Renter's Vault is designed to keep your data under your control. Here is a complete list of what the app stores:

  • Local database (on your device): Property names, room details, photo metadata (filenames, timestamps, GPS coordinates, SHA-256 hashes), and app settings. Stored in a SQLite database inside the app's private storage — inaccessible to other apps.
  • Google Drive files (paid tier only): Full-resolution photos uploaded to a "Renter's Vault" folder in your personal Google Drive account. These files are stored in your account — not on our servers. Renter's Vault uses limited drive.file scope, meaning it can only access files it created.
  • Firebase Analytics (anonymous): Anonymised usage events (e.g. screens visited, features used) sent to Google Firebase to help us understand how the app is used. No personally identifiable information is included.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (anonymous): Crash reports and error logs sent to Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs. These may include device model, OS version, and anonymised stack traces. No user content is included.

We do not run our own backend servers. We do not store your photos, property details, or personal information on any server we operate.

How to delete your data in-app

The fastest way to delete all your data is directly inside the app:

  1. Open Renter's Vault on your Android device.
  2. Tap the Settings icon (gear icon, top-right of the home screen).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account & Data.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

This action will immediately:

  • Wipe the local SQLite database (all properties, rooms, and photo metadata)
  • Revoke the app's Google Drive access token
  • Prompt you to optionally delete Drive files the app created
Note: If you choose not to delete Google Drive files during this step, you can remove them manually by opening Google Drive, navigating to the "Renter's Vault" folder, and deleting it.

Request deletion by email

If you no longer have the app installed, or prefer to request deletion in writing, email us at:

Please include the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and, if available:

  • The email address associated with your Google account (used for Drive access)
  • The approximate date you last used the app

We will respond within 5 business days to confirm the deletion steps taken.

Because we do not operate a user account system or store your email address, we cannot look up your data by name alone. Providing your Google account email helps us confirm which Drive files to remove if any were synced.

What happens when you delete

Here is exactly what gets removed and when:

  • Local database: Deleted immediately upon in-app request. All properties, room data, and photo metadata are permanently wiped from your device.
  • Google Drive files: If you choose to delete Drive files (either in-app or by deleting the "Renter's Vault" folder manually), those photos are permanently deleted from your Google account. This action cannot be undone.
  • Firebase Analytics data: Anonymised analytics data is purged from Google Firebase systems within 180 days per Google's data retention policy. Because this data is fully anonymised (no account IDs or personal details), it cannot be linked back to you individually.
  • Firebase Crashlytics data: Anonymised crash reports are retained for up to 180 days then automatically deleted by Google. No personal data is included in these reports.
Google Drive files are the only data we cannot delete on your behalf — they live in your account, not ours. We can revoke the app's access token (preventing future uploads), but only you can delete files from your Google Drive. Instructions: open drive.google.com, find the "Renter's Vault" folder, right-click, and select "Move to trash."
